Erik ten Hag sends defiant message to Sir Jim Ratcliffe after losing two key allies

Murtough, who played a key role in appointing Ten Hag, had developed a close working relationship with the United boss. However, he left his role last month, becoming another victim of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s radical overhaul of the club.

This departure was compounded by Arnold leaving at the end of the previous year. When asked about feeling exposed due to the departure of his key allies in the midst of major changes at United, Ten Hag expressed confidence in the new structure and the ongoing communication with the new personnel.

He emphasized his focus on opportunities rather than dwelling on potential problems, stating his approach to solving or avoiding issues. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his own position, Ten Hag remains involved in United’s summer transfer business and their pre-season tour to the USA.

Given the significant injury concerns, particularly in defense, Ten Hag highlighted the need to build a squad with greater depth and durability for the next season. Looking forward to the summer transfer window, Ten Hag acknowledged the challenges faced by the club in the past winter windows due to budget constraints and Financial Fair Play regulations.

He emphasized the desire for players with winning attitudes, strong mentality, and the ability to perform under pressure.
