Luke Shaw, who is marking 10 years at United this month, has expressed his belief that some responsibility for his injury setbacks lies with manager Erik ten Hag and the medical staff at Old Trafford. Shaw revealed that he was asked to play against Luton by Ten Hag, despite having sustained a hamstring injury the previous week at Aston Villa. He admitted to feeling something during the Villa game and had not trained for the whole week. Despite the scan not showing much, he trained just the day before the Luton game and agreed to play when asked by the manager.
Shaw expressed that it was partly his fault, partly the medical staff’s fault, and everyone can admit to it. Ten Hag has attributed a series of injuries to United’s disappointing season, where they finished eighth. The Dutchman is uncertain about his future but co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has called for an investigation into the high number of injuries. Shaw was also disheartened when fans questioned his commitment to the club, unaware of his situation.
He clarified that he was pushing hard to return for the games and the final, resulting in a premature comeback and incurring another hamstring injury. Despite the setbacks, Shaw emphasized his commitment to United, emphasizing that the United team comes first for him. *Join our new WhatsApp community* *and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
