Liverpool is getting close to reaching an agreement with Feyenoord for Dutch coach Arne Slot, supported by Virgil van Dijk. However, the deal is not yet finalized.
Liverpool’s initial offer of £7.7m, including bonuses, was rejected. Feyenoord is reportedly seeking a total package of £8.5m.
Additionally, Liverpool faces the challenge of replacing departing backroom staff from Klopp’s team. Slot hopes to bring his assistant coach Sipke Hulshoff to Liverpool, along with his head of performance, Ruben Peeters.
However, it’s uncertain whether Slot’s assistant trainer, John de Wolf, will join him. Negotiations for Slot’s contract with Liverpool are ongoing.
Face-to-face discussions between Liverpool and Feyenoord are expected soon, although a Feyenoord director has been busy with other business in Madrid. Klopp is not directly involved in the search for his replacement, which is being led by Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes.
