Premier League club suspends two players after arrest in connection with rape allegations – Mirror Online

Two Premier League footballers have been suspended by their club after reportedly being arrested in relation to an allegation of rape. One of the players, aged 19, is reported to have been arrested on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape.

Following a brief interview, he left the stadium and later spent the night behind bars after formally being arrested and questioned by detectives under caution. Reports then claim that his team-mate, also 19 years old, was arrested the following day and questioned on suspicion of rape, which allegedly took place on Friday night.

The police confirmed that both players have been released on bail pending further enquiries. A police spokesperson told the Sun: “Officers have arrested two men following a report of a rape.

A 19 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape. A second 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape.

Both men have since been released on police bail.”

Insiders at the club where the two players play claim that talks have already begun over the “next steps”. They have now both reportedly been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
