Bayern Munich seeks former Man Utd manager after Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann declines – Mirror Online

The Bavarians have surrendered their Bundesliga crown for the first time in 11 years. Those at the Allianz Arena are determined to reclaim the top spot.

Rangnick is highly respected in his homeland, having led several clubs and introduced pioneering philosophies that have swept the country. The club had considered Xabi Alonso, who led Bayer Leverkusen to the title, but he opted to stay where he is.

Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern before the appointment of Tuchel, was also considered, but he is remaining as the German national boss. This has led Bayern to seek new candidates, with Rangnick emerging as the frontrunner.

He is currently in charge of Austria and will lead them into the Euros this summer. Rangnick has a contract until 2026 and has stated that he plans to continue with the Austrian team beyond the Euros.

However, he could potentially leave for Bayern if offered the role. Roberto De Zerbi is another candidate on the Bayern radar.

Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl has a relatively small shortlist and aims to reach a conclusion sooner rather than later.
