Sporting Lisbon prepares for Ruben Amorim departure as key defender could follow to Liverpool.

Sporting secured a 1-0 victory over Famalicao, extending their lead at the top of the Portuguese league to seven points with five games remaining. In addition to their success in the Portugal Cup, the team is on track for a historic double.

Defenders Ousmane Diomande (20) and Goncalo Inacio (22) are both attracting significant attention. In particular, Inacio has been a long-term target for Liverpool and could potentially move to Anfield this summer.

All three players have buy-out clauses, with Gyokeres available for £86 million, Diomande for £68 million, and Inacio for £51 million. However, it is expected that potential suitors will make initial offers below these amounts if Amorim departs.

Amorim, the Sporting boss, has downplayed speculation about his potential departure, despite growing noise about his expected exit. When asked about fan preferences for winning the Portuguese title in order for him to stay, he emphasized the importance of Sporting becoming champions and acknowledged that it is the fans’ desire and the team’s goal.
