Jurgen Klopp and Virgil van Dijk lead tributes on 35th anniversary of Hillsborough disaster

The captain and manager of the men’s team, along with other club legends and officials, paid their respects at the Hillsborough memorial at Anfield on Monday. They gathered to commemorate the 97 people who tragically lost their lives in a crush after attending Liverpool’s FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough on April 15, 1989.

Liverpool observed a minute’s silence before their Premier League game against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday, and another minute of silence will be held at Exchange Flags near the town hall at 3.06pm – the time the match was halted 35 years ago. The club stated that on Monday, players and staff across the club would observe a minute of silence at 3.06pm in memory of the 97 men, women and children who lost their lives.

It is worth noting that in 2016, a jury found the 97 individuals were unlawfully killed.
