Tottenham nears Dominic Solanke transfer, set to bring huge fee for Liverpool – Mirror Online

Spurs have displayed interest in the 26-year-old Cherries frontman this summer, but have only now formalized their pursuit after intensifying efforts to acquire a new center-forward. The two clubs are currently engaged in discussions to finalize the transfer. The potential fee for the transfer could surpass the club-record £63m paid for midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon. There is frustration within Bournemouth at the delayed formalization of Spurs’ interest, especially with the upcoming 2024-25 season commencing in only a week.

Bournemouth was aware of the risk of losing the player, but recent optimism within the boardroom, expressed by owner Bill Foley, indicated hopes that Solanke would remain with the club. Despite this, the England international has reportedly shown openness to the move during private discussions, while maintaining professionalism throughout Bournemouth’s pre-season preparations. It is believed that a broad agreement on personal terms has been reached between Solanke and Spurs. Furthermore, there is acknowledgment of Solanke’s contributions to the team beyond scoring goals, including his impact on the build-up and press, making the team significantly better.

Although there is uncertainty surrounding the transfer market, Solanke is commended for his professionalism regardless of the outcome. Spurs’ pursuit of Solanke comes after Richarlison’s decision to stay in north London despite a tempting offer from the Saudi Pro League.
