Last season, Gyokeres scored 43 goals in 50 games for Sporting after leaving Coventry in a £20 million deal. Due to a release clause in his contract, it is expected that he will not leave for less than €100m (£86m), meaning any potential deal would see Coventry receive a substantial sum.
However, Sporting will retain a higher proportion of the fee, allowing them to negotiate terms more freely since they won’t have to pay as much back to Coventry. In addition to Gyokeres, Arsenal has shown interest in Spanish player Nico Williams and his international teammate Mikel Merino, who is reportedly open to a move.
