Prince William recently met with England’s national football squad as they prepared to depart for Germany to compete in Euro 2024. The team, led by manager Gareth Southgate, is aiming to secure their first-ever tournament victory, kicking off their campaign against Serbia in less than a week. The squad has undergone rigorous preparations, trimming their preliminary roster from 33 players to 26 for the tournament and two friendly matches. During the meeting, Prince William shared some lighthearted advice he received from his children, urging the players to eat twice their usual amount, albeit jokingly.
He emphasized the significance of tournament football and the additional demands it places on players following a long season of club football. William also highlighted the unity and camaraderie within the England team, encouraging them to draw on their experiences and inspirations as they gear up for the challenges ahead. The meeting with Prince William was one of the last events on the team’s agenda before departing for their training base in Germany. The squad has arrived at St George’s Park for the start of their Euro 2024 camp and is set to check into Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land for their stay.
The isolated luxury venue is estimated to cost the FA around £800,000 for the duration of their visit and was reportedly secured ahead of Germany’s attempts to book the location.
