Ronaldo’s team trailed 2-0 in their Saudi Super Cup semi-final when Ronaldo received a red card for shoving and allegedly elbowing opponent Ali Al-Bulaihi. His actions led to a brawl involving players from both teams. This resulted in Ronaldo’s continued wait for a domestic trophy with his club. The incident occurred after Al-Hilal went in front through Salem Al-Dawsari and doubled their lead through Malcom.
Ronaldo was attempting to retrieve the ball from the touchline when Al-Bulaihi held onto it, prompting Ronaldo’s reaction and subsequent red card. Al-Hilal defender Saud Abdulhamid then proceeded to shove Ronaldo in the back, sparking the brawl. Al-Nassr manager Luis Castro expressed dissatisfaction with the red card decision, stating that Ronaldo’s actions did not warrant a dismissal and that the opposing player provoked him. Despite finishing second last season and trailing the league leaders this term, Al-Nassr won the Arab Club Champions Cup and is set to face Al-Khaleej in the semi-finals of the King Cup on May 1.
