The Dutchman has been under increasing pressure since Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought a stake in the club. Ten Hag was expected to be the next man on the chopping block due to United’s poor results despite significant spending since he took charge.
However, he seems to have been given a stay of execution, as his contract still has another year to run and it is increasingly likely that he will see it out. Ratcliffe and his new executive team believe that the club’s old chiefs did not provide the manager with the best chance to succeed.
Additionally, he is reportedly unimpressed with the potential alternatives to Ten Hag. Nevertheless, Ratcliffe has made it clear that failure will not be an option under his stewardship.
He refrained from commenting directly on Erik ten Hag but voiced his concerns about the environment in which the previous coaches worked. Ratcliffe mentioned the need for warmth, friendliness, and a supportive structure, emphasizing that these elements are crucial for success.
