The club has brought back several key figures from the successful Klopp era, which has reportedly prevented the club from progressing. Klopp was offered the manager’s job again in May 2018 but rejected the approach.

In a biography about Hans-Joachim Watzke, Klopp revealed that he was asked to return, to which he responded by saying that he had a few more years in Liverpool. Klopp mentioned that he does not believe a return is very likely to happen but did not completely close the door on the idea.

He stated that if the club really needs his help, he would be willing to return as a rescuer at a time of need. He sees it as a nice opportunity but does not think it’s very likely to occur.
