Former Liverpool wonderkid Jordon Ibe has been released by non-league side Ebbsfleet. The 28-year-old joined the club in October but only made one appearance in the National League this season, coming on as a substitute during a goalless draw against Oldham in February.
Several other players, including former Liverpool youngster David Amoo and former Peterborough and Barnet forward Shaq Coulthirst, have also left the club. Six players remain under contract, and discussions have begun with 12 others as the team prepares for another season in the fifth tier.
Ebbsfleet secured their place in the National League with a crucial final-day draw at Boreham Wood, which ensured their safety while relegating their opponents. However, Ibe was released at the end of his contract in June 2020.
He subsequently returned to football by signing a two-year deal with his former club, Derby, but only made one appearance for the team before speaking out about his battle with depression and mental health issues in January 2021. Following his departure from Derby, Ibe spent over six months without a club before joining Adanaspor.
However, he did not make any appearances for the Turkish second-tier side before being without a club again for a year. Eventually, he confirmed his move to Ebbsfleet earlier this season.
