Erik ten Hag Elevates Unrecognized Man Utd Prospect to First Team for FA Cup Semifinal Match

The Red Devils have taken a host of players down to Wembley as they prepare for their last chance of landing any silverware. Jackson is one of several teenagers included in the 20-man matchday squad. Earlier this season, Ten Hag talked up the benefits and faith in the club’s academy. He mentioned that Man United will always be a buying club, but history shows it gives opportunities from the academy if a player deserves it.

He emphasized that giving chances to academy players helps the team progress quickly and reach a higher level. Ten Hag expressed confidence in other players who could make similar progress as Kobbie and Garnacho have in the last couple of months. Injuries have stretched Ten Hag’s resources and he could have to come up with some makeshift solutions on Sunday afternoon, due to a host of injuries in the United backline. Ten Hag mentioned some problems and a small injury that affected the availability of a player for the Sunday game.

United board member Sir Dave Brailsford and deputy football director Andy O’Boyle have traveled with the squad and will be at Wembley to see the contest with the Championship outfit, who are major underdogs.
