Avram Glazer’s rare public appearance as embattled Man Utd owner meets Derek Chisora – Mirror Online

The owner of Manchester United, Avram Glazer, has been seen in London with boxer Derek Chisora, sparking speculation that he may be attending the FA Cup semi-final. The 40-year-old boxer described Glazer as an ‘old friend’ and posted a selfie with him on Instagram. This suggests that the United owners are in London shortly before their club’s match at Wembley. The Glazers, who also own the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, have shown limited involvement at Old Trafford, but were present at Wembley last season.

This season, there has been a reduced interest from the Glazers as they relinquished a minority stake to Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who completed a £1.3 billion deal to take over a 27.7 per cent share of the club. Ratcliffe has taken a more hands-on approach, making changes such as appointing a sporting director and a CEO, as well as involving Dave Brailsford and his INEOS team. Key figures like Ed Woodward and John Murtough have departed, while new arrivals such as Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox are being targeted. Former United defender Gary Neville has been critical of the Glazers, accusing them of neglect in the past decade for not appointing the right people and for their lack of investment in the stadium and surrounding areas.

He praised Ratcliffe’s influence for bringing in the necessary personnel and focusing on stadium regeneration, highlighting the importance of having a top-notch stadium and knowledgeable leadership at the club.
