Marseille chief reacts to Mason Greenwood after Lee Carsley makes England decision – Mirror Online

The new striker for a Ligue 1 club has made a strong start, scoring five goals and providing one assist in his first three matches. The interim Three Lions manager, Lee Carsley, stated that the 22-year-old player was not under consideration for the team despite his performance.

Greenwood, who was arrested and charged with serious offenses in October 2022, remains eligible to play for Jamaica due to FIFA rules and his father’s nationality, even though he had played in a competitive match for England. His move to Marseille has been embroiled in controversy, with the mayor’s comments prompting a response from the club’s decision-makers.

The decision to recruit Greenwood was internally made, with the club asserting that they had sufficient information to make the choice. The coach, Roberto De Zerbi, was familiar with Greenwood from the past and the club held numerous discussions before finalizing the transfer.

Additionally, the club offers special promotions and advertisements to its community members and gives them the option to leave if they are not satisfied with the community.
