I have decided to give up my season tickets at Stamford Bridge, the home of football. I want to apologize for this decision, but I have valid reasons for doing so. First and foremost, I used to spend time at weekends with my daughters, which reduced the frequency of my visits to the stadium. Additionally, the high cost of attending matches at Stamford Bridge made me feel like it was a waste of my money.
Moreover, I felt like I was losing my connection with the club. The club’s decisions, including sacking fans, did not align with my values, causing me to feel disconnected and angry. This, combined with a bout of depression, made attending matches a source of sadness instead of joy. Even a trip to Anfield with a friend triggered feelings of loneliness and depression.
Despite giving 11 years of support and adoring the team, I found myself increasingly dissatisfied with the situation, particularly in terms of the compensation for the team members who worked on the show. I advocated for fair pay for the team, but the response from the bosses was disappointing. In light of these circumstances, I found more joy in watching matches on television than attending in person. It’s been a difficult decision, but it’s time for me to step away from the community and find a new way to enjoy football.
