Snapdragon, a subsidiary of global tech giant Qualcomm, was recently announced as the new shirt sponsor for Manchester United in a three-year deal worth £180 million. A decision on the naming rights for Old Trafford is expected to be made at the end of the year following consultation with fans.
Old Trafford has been the home of Manchester United for 114 years, and any potential naming rights deal for the stadium would need to be handled delicately by the club and the sponsor involved. Qualcomm’s chief marketing officer, Don McGuire, emphasized the significance of Old Trafford, stating that it should always be known as such.
However, he also mentioned the possibility of a branding presence, such as Snapdragon Stadium at Bashor Field. Snapdragon is collaborating with United to enhance the stadium experience for fans by implementing innovative technologies and ensuring that the facilities are world-class.
McGuire discussed plans for improving fan experiences, connectivity, and stadium operations, as well as working with United on future tours to countries such as China and India. McGuire expressed the desire for United to conduct summer tours around the world and suggested that Snapdragon could potentially be a presenting sponsor for future tours.
