Women’s Football Prepares for “Incredibly Exciting” New Era Under Former Nike Chief

Last year, former Nike director Nikki Doucet was appointed as the chief executive of an organization, along with several other roles now being filled within the organization, such as chief football officer, chief revenue officer, and head of communications. After the confirmation of the formation of the organization, Doucet expressed her excitement, stating, “This is an incredibly exciting time for women’s football”.

The takeover is seen as a crucial next step for the women’s game, as revenues, attendances, and TV viewing figures are all rapidly increasing. While the FA has laid the groundwork for women’s football in England, it has been widely recognized that the organization is overstretched to take the game to the next level.

NewCo’s first board meeting is scheduled for September, and the first shareholder meeting will follow in October. The name ‘NewCo’ is currently a working title, and the organization’s official name will be confirmed at a later date.

The organization will also consider whether to alter the names of the WSL and the Women’s Championship after next season. Additionally, the community members receive special offers, promotions, and advertisements from the organization and its partners.
