On Wednesday, Keane appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court to testify against Scott Law, who is accused of common assault. The incident occurred when Keane was celebrating a United goal on a punditry panel. Law, positioned in front of the studio, allegedly attacked Keane after a VAR decision favored Arsenal, resulting in an altercation that left Keane with injuries. Law, however, claimed that he was rushing to the toilet and acted in self-defense when Keane approached him aggressively.
The prosecution refuted this, asserting that Law’s actions were unjustifiable and that he was the aggressor. The defense argued that Keane’s reaction was fueled by the VAR decision and taunting from Arsenal fans, presenting a slow-motion clip that they claimed showed Keane using violence against Law. In response, Keane stated that he was trying to prevent Law from leaving and repeatedly called for someone to contact the police. The trial also heard testimonies from Richards, and Law continues to deny the charge.
The trial is ongoing.
