It now seems that one of Liverpool’s Premier League rivals may be able to gain an advantage over them. Sporting’s manager, Amorim, has traveled to the UK on a flight arranged by West Ham’s owners.
He is scheduled to meet with West Ham’s leadership regarding the possibility of taking over as the club’s new manager. Accompanying him on the trip was businessman Raul Costa, and a photo of them boarding the flight has been circulating on social media.
Despite his trip, Amorim carried on with his responsibilities at Sporting, conducting training as usual on Monday. The team has a two-day break before resuming their regular schedule on Thursday.
Following Sporting’s victory over Vitoria SC, Amorim declined to confirm whether he would remain with the team next season. He also expressed his commitment to achieving a championship as soon as possible.
Sporting fans made efforts to persuade Amorim to stay, displaying a banner at a match that read: “We will walk together Amorim.” The 39-year-old coach still has over two years remaining on his contract with Sporting, which includes a £12.8 million buy-out clause.
Other candidates are also being considered for the manager position at West Ham, while several names have been linked to the role at Liverpool, with Xabi Alonso initially being the frontrunner before deciding to stay with Bayer Leverkusen.
