Bastian Schweinsteiger, who had a successful career with Bayern and played a key role in winning the 2014 World Cup, found himself sidelined by manager Mourinho upon his arrival at Manchester United. Despite his experience and achievements, Schweinsteiger was told he’d be training with the U16s and was barred from the first team facilities after arriving late due to his participation in the Euros in 2016. Facing this abrupt exclusion, Schweinsteiger sought to understand the reason behind the decision.
Mourinho claimed he didn’t see the player happy, but Schweinsteiger expressed his love for the club even though he had been pushed aside. When asked about the players’ reaction to the situation, Schweinsteiger mentioned that he hadn’t interacted with them much, as he had to train at different times to avoid encounters with them. Former United right-back, Gary Neville, expressed his shock and embarrassment about the treatment of Schweinsteiger, calling it illegal and voicing concerns about constructive dismissal.
He highlighted his own role as the PFA Union Representative and the implications of such treatment.
