The two pundits were joined by presenter Jules Breach, who held a mini-game of Guess Who during the build-up. The trio sat down in one of the dugouts for the light-hearted game, with Breach handing out a number of clues.
The first tip was that the mystery player helped Leeds to win the FA Youth Cup in 1997. The second was that they had over 300 appearances for six different clubs, including one in Spain.
And the final clue Breach gave the two pundits was that he scored the winning goal for Spurs in the 2008 League Cup final. With those clues in mind, Ferdinand guessed that the player was Gary Speed, which turned out to be wrong.
Crouch meanwhile went for Jonathan Woodgate, which Breach confirmed was the right answer. He and Breach then quickly apologized for the swearing, though Crouch was seen looking away as he giggled to himself.
“It’s hard to say. I think this season has been a challenge,” he said.
“When you go into playing Champions League football and you are fighting to get into those places, it’s a new ask of players. Most, if not all of these players have not been asked to perform every three days during a season so physically and mentally that challenge is very draining.
It’s a gruesome schedule they have had to deal with and they are feeling the brunt of it. It’s a new scenario that they have had to adapt to.
They have not got to grips with it yet but it’s an experience that this club will grow with.” *Join our new WhatsApp community*
