Chelsea approached Bompastor in February to discuss the possibility of her taking on a new coaching role. Lyon is currently leading the French top flight, with a significant 11-point lead over Paris Saint-Germain, and will also face their rivals in the Champions League semi-finals. Lyon has been a dominant force in the competition, securing eight titles, which is four more than any other team.
Bompastor was promoted to Lyon’s head coach from her position within the Lyon academy after the departure of Jean-Luc Vasseur in April 2021. She has had a successful tenure, winning 94 of her 110 matches in charge and securing two league titles and the Champions League. In November, she expressed her excitement for new challenges and opportunities, emphasizing her dedication to coaching at the highest level and pursuing her dreams.
