The 28-year-old spent five years at Arsenal at the start of his professional career. Although it didn’t work out for him at the north London club, he retains a link with the Gunners. Gnabry’s regular celebration involves holding up one hand flat, with the other pinched above it.
He has attributed the origins of this celebration to NBA star James Harden. Gnabry explained that he saw a video on YouTube where Harden was cooking after making a buzzer-beater and winning the game. This inspired Gnabry’s celebration, as he related it to scoring in football.
Gnabry noted that while football doesn’t involve scoring as many points as basketball, there is a resemblance since both he and Harden are offensive players. Bayern had more to celebrate after Leroy Sane’s brilliant run caused chaos in the Arsenal defensive line. Despite making only 18 appearances for Arsenal’s first team, Gnabry’s association with the club runs deep as he joined the academy from Stuttgart in 2011.
