Cristiano Ronaldo was shown a red card during a match against Al-Hilal’s Ali Al-Bulayhi after an incident where he appeared to elbow the opponent. The altercation occurred as Ronaldo attempted to pick up the ball for a throw-in and was confronted by Al-Bulayhi, leading to a confrontation where Ronaldo pushed the defender and then threw an elbow.
At this point, Al-Hilal was leading 2-0, ultimately winning 2-1 with Sadio Mane scoring a late consolation goal for Al-Nassr. Following the game, manager Jesus suggested that Ronaldo’s actions were a result of his unfamiliarity with losing, stating that he is not used to losing in his career and can therefore struggle to maintain emotional and mental focus in defeats.
Despite this, Jesus praised Ronaldo’s strength and significance as a player, referring to him as an example and a model in the sport. On the other hand, Al-Nassr boss Luis Castro defended Ronaldo, claiming that the red card was unwarranted and that Al-Bulayhi had pretended to have been elbowed by Ronaldo.
He argued that Ronaldo had been provoked and that there was minimal contact between Ronaldo and the defender, emphasizing his belief that the rival player had feigned the incident.
