Potter is taking his time before making any decisions at this stage. Initially appointed by Chelsea for the long-term, his tenure was cut short due to disappointing results, leading to his dismissal after a 2-0 defeat against Aston Villa. During his seven-month stint at Stamford Bridge, Potter won 12 and drew eight of his 31 matches in charge. Rather than pursuing opportunities in punditry or other areas of football, Potter has kept a low profile in the past year.
He has informed the club that he will not be progressing talks for the time being, despite having initial discussions. Ajax approached Potter earlier this year, and other high-profile clubs have also held discussions with him. Meanwhile, Ajax sacked Maurice Stein in October, with John van’t Schip taking over on an interim basis. Van’t Schip expressed disappointment following a defeat to Feyenoord, highlighting the team’s performance issues and self-inflicted mistakes.
