Everton football club has been handed a two-point deduction by the Premier League for breaching financial regulations. The club was found to have breached financial regulations by an admitted £16.6million and will immediately drop to 16th place in the Premier League table, below Brentford. This decision comes after a three-day hearing where the independent Commission considered mitigating factors presented by the club.
Additionally, the club has expressed its gratitude to fan groups for their input and stated that it will appeal the decision. In response to the ruling, Everton has expressed its gratitude to the Fan Advisory Board and other fan groups for their contributions and thanked the fans for their support. The Club and its legal representatives have taken steps to prepare an appeal against the Commission’s decision and will refrain from making further comments at this time.
The Premier League announced that Everton will receive an immediate two-point deduction following a hearing last month, where evidence and arguments from the club were considered in relation to the breach. The Commission concluded that a two-point deduction was an appropriate sanction, taking effect immediately. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
